The staff were very kind, and it was clear they genuinely care about the children and keep them active. However, my experience as a parent of a child with Level 1 autism was disappointing. A week before my son started camp, I met with the director and her husband to discuss his autism diagnosis, his needs, and what accommodations and support they could provide. I wanted to ensure they understood who my son is and how best to help him succeed. During that meeting, I specifically asked how behavioral challenges would be handled and what policies were in place to support children with disabilities. I was assured that removal from the program would be a last resort. They told me they had previously worked with children who had autism and behavioral challenges and felt confident they could accommodate my son. At no point was I told there might be staffing or resource limitations that would prevent them from doing so. My son attended camp for only two days. When I picked him up after the first day, I was told he had done great. Staff explained that he had taken a few brain breaks and experienced a minor meltdown during a game but was able to calm down successfully. Based on that feedback, I believed things were going well. The following day, however, I received a text message stating that I needed to pick him up because he was unable to keep up with the program and follow the rules, and that they did not have sufficient staff to accommodate him. While I appreciate that the staff were polite and professional, I felt the program was not upfront about its ability to support a child with autism. Given the assurances I received before enrollment, it was disappointing that my son was dismissed after only two days with what appeared to be very little effort to work through the challenges or implement the accommodations we had discussed.

My child had the best time at summer camp, came home each night wore out yet excited and full of fun stories! I love the updates from staff and appreciate the safety features like locked front doors and good staff/student ratios. I highly recommend this program!
