Powered by GoogleChoose a different soccer club. The director of Strikers should be removed. He doesn’t follow through with his responsibilities, and doesn’t care about the kids. They never got uniforms this year and every time the parents asked where they were, we were told they were on their way. Until the last day when he told us that he would be giving a refund for the uniforms. Now, close to 3 months later and after repeated phone calls and emails, still no refund. Where did the money go Dan? Oh, and when I tried to ask about these things at soccer practice, I was told that it wasn’t the time to talk about it. Don’t talk about soccer at soccer practice. Save yourself the aggravation and disappointment that my family and child went through and go somewhere else. Very dishonest.
This is the 3rd (& final) year my son has played recreationally, he's 7 years old. The first year was okay, a little disorganized but okay. Last year sbout a third of the games were canceled because other leagues (?) had to use the fields for tournaments. The games were not rescheduled. This year, they decided to have games on Friday nights, which we found out after we signed up & paid our $125.00. We're in week 4 & my son has had 2 practices & 1 game which lasted only 10 minutes. All of this due to weather issues. You only need to live in SWFL for a week or 2 to realize that during rainy season it rains, with lightning, almost everyday in the late afternoon or evening. Why Lee County Strikers would schedule games during that time escapes me. I & all the other parents have, basically, paid for the up keep of the fields for other kids to play on, not for our own kids to play soccer.
Always hospitable friendly club with high quality fields. The only caveat if you haven't been before is that Google Maps will usually tell you if you are coming from I75 to go to an entrance turning on to Concourse Drive from Gladiolus. Don't go that way - the entrance is usually locked. Take Pine Ridge down to Kelly Road and follow the signpost.
Six well maintained full sized soccer fields. Recreational teams as well as competitive traveling teams for ages 6-18. Fields are well lit and couches are very nice and committed to their jobs and helping kids
We've witnessed how some of the girls' teams have routinely been plagued by mediocre coaches who really don't seem to care about their players' overall development, progress & improvement. They just don't show dedication, vision & enthusiasm about growing the players' skillset and their joy of the game. There is obvious bias & favoritism of a few select players, which is sometimes due to certain coaches (e.g. Paulo Acosta) having their own relatives on their teams; as a result, they only focus on showcasing their own blood rather than the whole team, which is very unprofessional & disappointing. These coaches devalue most of the team, and destroy young players' morale for their own selfish purposes. We've been with Strikers for over 3 years now, and keep hoping for the best, but every season we grow more disappointed by the quality of the coaches declining. It's also a very disorganized & unstructured club. Too much turnover with directors etc. that it seems like no one at the top really cares about the club as a whole. We are finally moving on from Strikers, like so many have already, after giving them plenty of chances to improve. Unless they make some serious, positive changes, I'd highly recommend avoiding this club! Put your energy, money & time to GPS, Cyclones, Fire, etc. AVOID STRIKERS for now.
