★Andrea MichaelisThis was my son's second year at the camp. The first year he came back with at least 50% of his clothes missing. I contacted the camp, and the clothes were never located. My son had a good time though so we decided to give camp another try. This year when I picked him up he complained of bullying in his cabin, and even being hit by another boy. He cried multiple times at camp wanting to come home, but no one ever contacted me. Instead he was convinced by counselors to stay in an unsafe environment. He said some of the bullying happened in the cabin in front of counselors. This child also got in trouble on other occasions at the camp. He should of been removed from my son's cabin, or I should of been given option to remove my son from the camp. Dropping off my son the first day the camp resident was bragging about going to a Cardinals game that night. I would think the camp residents should be required to stay at the camp when camp is in session. Mail is also an issue at this camp. They decide what and how much mail your child receives each day. I have no idea what the thought process is on why they would not give a child their mail. I would think it would be a comfort to them to receive something from their family. Unless you have a van or truck you will bottom out your car going into the camp. I lost my splash guard on my car last year. I even stopped before I went over the speed bumps because I was warned before hand about these speed bumps. It doesn't matter if you stop, your car will be damaged. We will not be returning next year to this camp. It needs a complete management overhaul. My son's camp seemed poorly put together, and more of an "after thought." I have great memories of going to church camp as a child. I'm very disappointed my son's memories will be bad ones.
★★★★★TriciaLove this camp! Grew up here, counselled here, and now send our kids here! Watch out for the speedbumps on the drive in!!! They are not from the camp, but the people who live by the camp, and I understand they want their children safe, but good golly, they should pay for damages to your car when you go over one without stopping on top of it first. I would argue the sign near the entrance in the middle of the drive and the speed bumps are a hazard to fire and rescue vehicles!
