Lake Lanier Sailing Club runs a weeklong summer sailing program for juniors on Lake Lanier, with the Optimist group open to ages 6-15 and sessions suitable for all levels including complete beginners. Camp runs Monday-Friday, roughly 9:00am-4:30pm, and a limited number of Optimist charters are available first-come-first-served for sailors who do not own a boat. All participants must be able to swim and be comfortable in lake water. The program is led by the club's sailing director, a six-time national champion who has coached young sailors toward Olympic events; the club is at 6206 Commodore Drive, Flowery Branch.
