Lake Canyon Yacht Club, chartered in 1967 on the north shore of Canyon Lake between San Antonio and Austin, runs week-long junior sailing camps for about 30 students aged 8 to 18. Campers learn the fundamentals of handling a single-person sailboat and by the end of the week take the boats out on their own; classes run from beginner through competitive levels. Club membership is not required to enroll. The club also operates an adaptive sailing program, running since 2006, that takes adults and young people with physical or intellectual disabilities out on the water.
