Overall, we were not happy with the experience. My daughter was SUPER excited to do cheer. And meet new girls. By week 4, she no longer wanted to go. There were girls on her team, that bullied. YES, bullied other girls and they never spoke on it. My daughter was in TEARS during one of the practices because one of the girls kept being mean to her and another girl. When I told the coach, who could have seen it if she paid attention to more than just the girls she preferred, she said “ok” and NEVER addressed it or even asked my daughter if she’s okay. I understand the whole” you have to have tough skin” but you can still validate her feelings and acknowledge the issue. That continued on throughout the whole half season. My daughter struggled. She felt like the coach didn’t like her and like she was making no friends there, and when she asked the coaches for suggestions, how can she fix something she’s struggling with, they gave her a very vague answer and she just continued to struggle and feel like she was failing at it. I’m very disappointed. If your child is a first time try out for cheer, I would not recommend. However, if your child has done it and is decent at it, im sure they’ll do a much better job.

Do NOT send your child to this so-called “Cheer Camp” if they are under the age of 13. It is negligent, unprofessional, and unsafe. This is not a one off, its a pattern. I just discovered another parent had a nearly identical experience meaning this is a recurring problem they’ve never fixed. My daughter was injured during camp while the staff sat on their phones. They dismissed her injury, had no certified staff on site, and actually had to run next door just to get ice. No one called me. Instead, I received an email a day or so later from the owner (who wasn’t even present at the time of the injury) that said: “We do not call parents for minor bumps, scrapes, or bruises. Athletes jam their fingers in cheer quite often. I know I’ve jammed mine hundreds of times… playing basketball, football, and in daily activities…” This was not a jam. It was a broken finger in two places with a growth plate injury! The camp does not hold proper legal certifications for pediatric campers, and it shows. And if that wasn’t enough, when I arrived to pick up my child a day before, I was stopped by LG&E, the power company, who asked if I was the owner and could pay the 6 months of overdue bills. They were were shutting off electricity within 10 minutes. This is not just carelessness; it’s a pattern of negligence. They should not be allowed to run a children’s program, let alone one that involves physical training.

This is a stellar operation! The owners Josh and Ashley are staunch hard workers who love and support their athletes at all times. My granddaughter joined about 2 yrs ago knowing nothing and now has many tumbling skills and much practice with dancing and showmanship. Teachers/Coaches are always positive and have high expectations without undue pressure. I’m happy to be a part of this program.

My daughter is coming up on year 3 at KCC and we love it! From the standards to which our athletes are held to the coaching and relationships that are built within the teams, we have loved everything about KCC. Gracie has improved IMMENSELY since she started at age 4 and now that she’s completed two half-seasons (a fabulous option for beginners!) we are going in to the 2024-2025 FULL SEASON 100% ready. We are PROUD KY PRIDE members!! 💚💙
