Camp Koinonia

Camp Koinonia is a Christian camp and year-round retreat facility at 850 Camp Koinonia Lane in Cle Elum, Washington, in the central Cascades. Its own children's programming includes a nine-week Summer Day Camp running 9:00am-3:30pm with a different theme each week, a Winter Break Day Camp, a Homeschool Collective, outdoor education, and the Cedarbrook and Larchaven overnight camps. On-site amenities include a 25-by-50-foot heated swimming pool with lifeguards and trained staff, a stocked two-acre swim and fishing pond, archery, a boulder wall, gaga ball, mountain bikes, a professional escape room, a one-mile hiking trail and an eight-station team-building course rated for ages 5 and up. The camp publishes a Statement of Faith and presents day camp as a way to try new activities and learn about faith; much of the rest of the year the site is rented to youth groups, non-profits and other visiting groups.

The stay at the campsite was disappinting due to Scott’s actions. Last year we had zero issues with the old director Kevin. The new director this year kept giving us the run around and was lied to us. He was rude and not very good. He told our pastor you can’t check in before 4 I won’t receive you, “you’ve been here before so you don’t need to come before hand to see.” When we are spending that much money we should be able to see the layout before hand. He also stated he allowed us to come in at noon which was not true. We called him 4 times the day before and 3 times the day of with questions, no response. When we confronted him about this his response “oh what number have you been calling, I had zero missed called.” We showed him our logs. Food was not enough, it was rationed with super small portions. When we asked for more ranch or food they said no. One of our members asked for more food and his response was “go get leftovers from the other tables”. He then kicked us out before hand, stated check out was at 10 am the night before, stated it was always like that. After speaking to the other group at the camp they said checkout was always 12.30 pm and it was always like that. We were discriminated against. You guys state hospitality is important, under the new director Scott it was not even close. I was extremely disappointed. Campsite is beautiful.

BEST place EVER! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and always there for us no matter what the needs. The food is delicious at every meal! The accommodations and meeting hall are truly some the of best out there! The activities are limitless and the staff makes sure you enjoy yourself and have fun!

Our scout district routinely uses this camp for their annual Klondike (a winter-based competition of patrols). But our troop was in a pinch and needed somewhere with snow for a weekend getaway in a hurry. The camp was amazing with helping us out. The facility was warm and cozy for our troop. We made lunch, dinner, and breakfast. The scouts had a movie-night, and a few slept in igloos they had made outside. We accidentally left a shovel behind, but the camp found it and held in until I could drive up and retrieve it. Thanks so much for helping us out and everything you did to make the weekend special.

We had an absolute blast! We got 20 campers together and about 3 to 4 tents! Kevin worked with our main contact real well & gave us a general price… we did the paperwork among ourselves… We loved the archery, the swimming pool, all the games and the hiking, even caught a fish… the bicycling that we can do around there is for all levels … Our kids made great use of the pond and outdoor stage… we plan on doing it every year! Such a fun way and such easy access right off the freeway for all of us to get together! With all the lovely trees, we were able to set up an outdoor movie theater and made popcorn!

I've taken groups to Camp Koinonia in the past two years. The service and staff were consistently amazing. They supported our groups with kindness and efficiency, we had the best time! There are a variety of staffed and unstaffed activities to explore, a big wooden forest to explore, there was spacious kids playground and structured play areas. Lodging was clean, comfortable, and affordable. Onsite meals cooked by kitchen staff. It was a truly worry-free environment where everyone can relax and reconnect with nature and each other.
