Powered by GoogleMy children began attending Jumpstart’s summer program on May 26. During the first two weeks, I was never formally notified of any serious behavioral concerns. The first time issues were brought to my attention was on June 10th during evening pickup, when Jennifer casually mentioned that my children had been running into the concession area, taking items, hitting one another, and were difficult to redirect.Despite these concerns, my children attended the Chuck E. Cheese field trip the following day and completed the remainder of the week. On Friday, my account was drafted for the upcoming week’s tuition as scheduled. Then, on June 15 at approximately 1:57 PM, I received a phone call informing me that I needed to immediately pick up my children and that they would no longer be allowed to attend the program. This came as a complete surprise, as there had been no prior warnings, behavior plans, conferences, or indication that termination was being considered. What was especially difficult was the timing. I work in home health caring for elderly, homebound individuals who depend on me for their care. Being told in the middle of the workday that I had to leave immediately created a significant hardship for both my patients and my family. Finding emergency childcare with virtually no notice is extremely challenging for any working parent. I also requested a refund for the week of services that had just been drafted from my account, since my children would no longer be attending. My request was denied based on company policy. However, I have not yet found any clear language indicating that tuition paid for services not provided would be retained following immediate termination. I understand that childcare providers must maintain safety and address behavioral challenges. My concern is not that behavioral issues were discussed, but rather how the situation was handled. I would have appreciated earlier communication, a collaborative effort to address concerns, and reasonable notice before terminating care. As a program that presents itself as Christian-based, I expected a greater emphasis on communication, grace, and working together with families during difficult situations. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
I paid to hold a spot but never fully enrolled my son/ complete the process to access the app and provide necessary documentation to be fully enrolled. I wouldn’t have been allowed to bring my son to have them watch him because I never provided the necessary documentation. However, despite that, they have charged my card for two full weeks. I called, emailed and finally after saying I would stop by with my third email I received a response and a refund of a check in the mail. Then, even after they promised he was unenrolled and my card was deleted, my card was charged again for another week. I am beyond frustrated. This should not be how this is dealt with.
