Overnight (residential) YMCA summer camp - Camp Harrison at Herring Ridge - on over 2,000 acres in the Brushy Mountains near Boomer, centered on private 140-acre Lake Broyhill. Campers ages 6-16 swim in a pool and lake and take part in kayaking, canoeing, waterskiing, a water zip line, horseback riding, a ropes course, sports, and crafts, with themed adventure tracks such as a dude ranch, vet camp, teen leadership, and CIT. Operated by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte; also hosts family and weekend camps.

The high ropes are exhilarating, zipline, hiking and the views were definitely fun too. But, the ladies in the kitchen were my favorite part! I attended a women's weekend retreat there several times. We loved their homemade cookies and we all sent them gratitude cards. The cookies were in consistently in the top 5 readings to come back. I visited a few times to hike and visit with friends I met that lived there and they always made me a to go basket of cookies. Kindness and memories wrapped in morsels of love!
