Hatley Pointe

Compiled from public sources · October 2026

Hatley Pointe is a privately owned ski area in Mars Hill, North Carolina, whose snow sports school offers ski and snowboard lessons. Families bring children for lessons and time on the slopes, and beginners practice in a conveyor-served learning area and on a 400-foot carpet lift before riding the chairlift. The resort sits at the base of Big Bald Mountain north of Asheville, with 54 acres of terrain, a 700-foot vertical drop, full snowmaking and night skiing on every run. Formerly Wolf Ridge Ski Resort, it reopened as Hatley Pointe in 2024 after Deborah and David Hatley bought it in 2023, renovated the lodge and upgraded the snowmaking.

Great edition to the southeast mountain biking scene. Beautiful facilities. Efficient check in system and lift. Great options for mid ride snacks. Super fun and well built trails. However the single greatest thing were the welcoming staff, they were super helpful and accommodating and kinda leave you feeling like a friend. From the lift attendants to the lady in the gift shop, everyone was amazing! Looking forward to seeing the growth of the park and more trails added.

We started a goal this winter to learn to ski, we skied here twice this winter and it really was pretty good. Mountain isn’t the biggest but the service was definitely good. And I liked how it was not very crowded. The lodge was full but not too full like a lot of the areas resorts. The lodge area was really nice and we really enjoyed the pasta bar. We at at the bar in the actual restaurant part and it was really nice in there. We had a nice time. Thinking about a season pass this year. From other reviews if they can nail down the snow making I think it’ll be an awesome place.

Been following Hatley since they acquired the resort and started making their vision come to life. Finally had the opportunity to visit today and enjoyed all the hard work. Truly a unique environment that felt very relaxing in the lodge. Snow over the past few days enhanced the slopes. Had a good variety of runs to keep us busy. Ticketing process and lift operations kept us moving smoothly. And my guy enjoyed his super senior status while rekindling memories of a trip to Wolf Ridge 20 years ago with his daughter.

We just moved to the area and stopped by Harley Point for a drink at the bar, and it made a great first impression. It’s a really cute ski resort with an awesome atmosphere. The outdoor fire pits are a great touch, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I’ve skied and snowboarded all over the country, and this place has really good vibes. There were tons of people out enjoying the night skiing and snowboarding, which says a lot. The energy felt fun and relaxed at the same time. We also noticed some great Valentine’s specials posted at the restaurant, which was nice to see. Overall, it was a fantastic first visit and we’ll definitely be back.

Overall, fantastic experience! Such a beautiful space! Tips: Definitely get your tickets in advance. Check that the main lift is running before you go (only one main lift). Order your food early if it’s a sold out day, food took over an hour for us today but it was REALLY GOOD and worth the wait (I do not say this often for east coast ski resorts). Lovely day with family, we will be back!
