Harvest Hope Farm is a nonprofit farm in Moorhead whose Harvesting Hope for Others farm camp runs 11 weeks from June through August, meeting once a week for two hours, for children ages 6-13. Each child grows a 4x6-foot raised garden bed from planting to harvest, and the produce is donated to families in need in the Fargo-Moorhead area; campers also feed and care for farm animals and learn what food products those animals provide. The farm also runs a llama camp for ages 3-5 and a four-day Art in Agriculture mini camp of two-hour sessions. Camp costs $220 per student and scholarships are available.

I have a 2-year-old now (first time going when he was just over a year old) and he has a blast every time we go. There are goats, sheep, llamas, chickens along with some super cool Farming/Gardening sections of the farm where the kids from camp grow their own plots of Fruits and Vegetables. You could walk around for hours (I did) learning about the reasons why they do certain things, how the greenhouse dome works, reasoning behind why they have the sheep they have, the list goes on. They have no shortage of events so keep an eye on their Facebook page and get out there any opportunity you have. I can't suggest a visit enough.
