Harbor Soccer Club runs six weeks of summer youth soccer camps in the Gig Harbor area, open to all skill levels rather than club members only. Camp mornings run 9am to 12pm across roughly four-day weeks and mix technical drills, friendly competition and mini-games. Most sessions are held at Goodman Middle School in Gig Harbor, with a lower-cost session at Vaughn Elementary on the Key Peninsula that is open to all but focused on Key Peninsula families. Space is limited and registration is online, by check or by cash.

★★arzergopteryxMixed bag at best. I have two kids in different teams at HSC. The organization as a whole is centered on recruitment of players. No child was cut at tryouts in 2025. Accordingly, it shows at games. We have a predominantly losing record, many games end with devastating losses by double digits. Winning isn't everything but losing to that degree is demoralizing. Since the record is more losses than wins by far, it likely is a reflection of coaching. The quality of coaching follows the tiers even though you pay the same amount. Top tier teams have the best coaches and the lowest tier teams have coaching that mirrors that, so you need to be aware. I think they should rotate coaches in all tiers so everything cooks evenly if you know what I mean. Let's switch gears to Junior Academy. What a nightmare. The coach is very disinterested in coaching and does little at practice. It took several demands just to get him to show up at the games on weekends(!). Communication is near zero, direct questions on schedules or such are completely ignored. My son received better, way, way, way, way better coaching at the recreational level. Coach primarily sits down during games and gives little direction, if at all. Needless to say, games are often 10-20 points to 0 every week, so yes losing to that degree says something. Other teams have coaches who direct the little ones at all times. The HSC coach sits or stands and just stares. Coaching needs to improve at HSC. Proper etiquette to respond to questions should come naturally without a need to "train" coaches. So asking a question like "What time is the game?" will go unanswered. This organization can do better with coaching development. If you're serious about soccer, going over the bridge is an unfortunate reality. Tragically, it doesn't have to be this way, but it seems we had some "bad luck" when it came down to the two kids getting coaches. The older one is better by far and improving, but you can see that experience matters when looking at the higher tier coaching.
