Powered by GoogleI drive 2 hours up to go ride their advertised bike park today and use my season pass, as it is states in the pass perks that you get to ride the bike park the whole '26 summer season. When I arrived at the main lodge there was no one there at all... I ended up driving down to the smaller lodge (north creek ski bowl) and saw a lift spinning with people on it. I was relieved and glad I found the bike park, I was terribly wrong. I put on my gear and biked up to the lift and a lift came over to me as im noticing there aren't normal bike chairs on. He proceeds to tell me that they fully stopped mountain biking and I can't get on the lift with my bike, it's only for scenic riders. I was thankful for the info but I couldn't get an answer from anyone as to why it's not advertised whatsoever and why I wasn't informed as a passholder as its clearly stated that it still gives you access to a now nonexistent bike park. Half the reason I bought the season pass was so I could go downhill biking there for the summer/fall. Im extremely disappointed with Gore mountain, im considering dropping the season pass altogether after this interaction and I was already on the fence with Ikon. 🤷♂️ What a terrible day of driving hours for nothing.
Exceptional view of the High Peaks from the Windy Hill Vista point. Hiking trail to the summit from the Saddle Lodge has several steep sections. Recommend using trekking poles. And, as always in the Adirondacks, don't leave home without your bug repellent.
Gore Mountain has become my go to favorite ski area. I love the Adirondacks and the vibe of the whole place. I usually rent a VRBO in the area and ski for 2 days. The mountain has a variety of difficulty that suits all preferences. Great alternative than heading to crowded Vermont resorts. Good lodge and good selection for lunch if you did not bring your own. Conditions have always been top notch.
Gore is my big season pass mountain and though I agree you have to shlep around between mountains and trails, the actual trails are well maintained and this mountain has some of the best intermediate/expert tree glades in the Northeast. The reason I'm writing this review is to commend the ski tuning shop, with a pass holder discount and a crew that does a great job of tuning and waxing my boards. I often hear about people paying a small fortune to tune up their boards, binding mounting, etc. but the crew at Gore does an excellent job keeping me upright with the inevitable encounters with "firm" conditions. Keep up the great work!
The mountains great! Plain and simple. Lots of great runs to be had on lifts sporadically placed over several peaks. The way the lifts and trails are designed and laid out really makes you think about the runs you want to take. It keeps things interesting. Not all the lifts are fast but most of them are quick enough to not be a schlage. There's a few flat spots at the tops of lifts which, as a boarder, is a little annoying but it comes with the territory at certain mountains. My only gripe is that not all staff seem super happy or personable but that's what you get when you have so many bodies working for the same location. A couple of non-talkers. A couple staff not responding back when you smile to them. Not everybody's going to have great customer service skills or be in the best of moods while they're at work. There were a few folks cleaning up The lodges and operating the lifts that were super happy and a delight to engage with. Not necessarily egregious but the one that affected me the most was somebody in the repair department. They didn't know how to approach or even be remotely interested in looking at my boa malfunction in my boots. I did some research on the spot and just needed a flathead screwdriver which they did give me (kudos) and I fixed it myself. Excited to fix my boots for nothing, on returning the screwdriver I genuinely inquired "you guys want to learn about this" and was met with "no, not really". No skin off my back but those guys didn't want to apply themselves that day. There's plenty of sitting areas and spots to store your gear when you're out on the mountain. The bars and restaurants are great! They charge a very fair amount compared to other mountains I've been to. The new Lodge at North ski bowl is off the charts awesome! I know it's a different entity but Timber and Thyme is an excellent establishment that will no doubt attract people to the lodge that are not even skiing. Those guys are a complete 180 regarding the customer service experience I had throughout my day on the mountain. It was a great way to end my first time at Gore since I was 18. I'm a happy season pass holder.
