Gloria J. Parks Community Center on Main Street in Buffalo is operated by the University District Community Development Association, a nonprofit whose youth program pairs after-school programming with a summer day camp for City of Buffalo students. The full-day camp runs 8:00am to 3:00pm and combines academic assistance, life-skills work, artistic activities, field trips, recreation and socialisation, with a separate science- and sports-based magnet camp that uses an inquiry-based science model alongside athletics. The camp primarily serves children attending Buffalo public and charter schools.

Powered by GoogleI feel incredibly sad for the students who attend this after-school program. Over the years, it seems like the quality and resources have continued to decline. The program used to serve students through 8th grade, and now it only goes through 6th grade. The meals provided have been disappointing, there do not appear to be many enrichment opportunities such as field trips during the school year, and overall the program seems to lack the support and funding that students deserve. I have also had concerns with leadership and communication. When families try to share concerns with the Executive Director, Roseann, there often does not seem to be a response or acknowledgment. My biggest concern is for the children who deserve a safe, enriching, and supportive after-school environment. I encourage parents to research all available options and consider programs that are actively growing and investing in their students, such as Delevan Grider Community Center or Buffalo Prep. If you are simply looking for childcare after school, this may be the place for you. However, if you want your child to have meaningful learning experiences, enrichment, and opportunities to grow, I would encourage you to look elsewhere.
I Enjoy leading the Line dance class. People are Friendly. Exercise with fun. Socializing. Stimulate Memory.
The Gloria J. Parks Center has many aspects of life services and logistics, such a gym, public computers, parking, also a homework help program (my granddaughter does it after school), and of course the English language classroom on 2 floor, with teacher Michelle for international students who very professional.
I paid $55 for a membership here to use the fitness center. I feel like it was a waste of money. They don’t even have membership cards. They just tell you to sign in at the front desk and then you’re free to just go wherever. So I feel like it was pointless to pay for the membership. Also they have a limited selection of machines and most of them are broken and outdated. The only machines that work are the treadmills. They also ghost job candidates after making them go through multiple rounds of interviews
