Wondercamp is the full-day summer camp run at Gilden Woods Okemos, a licensed Michigan childcare and preschool center operated by AppleTree & Gilden Woods (Learning Care Group). The camp runs 15 weeks across the summer with a new theme each week — invention, water, sports, music, art, nature — alongside daily outdoor play, arts and crafts, and healthy meals and snacks; school-age campers also take local field trips. It is open to toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children up to age 12, enrolled by the week, and the center also offers full-time, part-time and drop-in care year-round.

★★JaneWe loved Gilden Woods when we started. However, we ended up transferring care due to so many inconveniences. Each Winter the heat would go out, so they would cancel classes the morning of, leaving my husband and I to call off of work. The heating issue has never once been fixed. I will say, since the heating issue lasted ALL Winter, they did accommodate all kids at another center down the road. We were still upset we could not attend the daycare we were paying for. Our child was in the Toddler 1 one room. They then fired ALL 3 teachers for the class.This left the kids to adjust to ALL new people while transferring back to their daycare. Due to terminating their staff, they then had no staff to accommodate all the kids. They asked for volunteers for 4-5 children to stay home each day (they did credit each day you kept your child home back). This is still a huge inconvenience for every parent who has a job. They would also threaten classroom closures, if they did not get enough volunteers for children to stay home. I hate that a daycare that started out so well, ended so bad for us.

The classrooms are bright, clean, and full of age-appropriate materials that make learning fun. It’s clear that the staff care deeply about creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child can succeed. We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Gilden Woods Okemos and are so grateful for the teachers who make such a positive impact on our little one’s life every day. Highly recommend this center to any family looking for quality early childhood education!
