To compete with francos, stone creek, the private studios, and crunch, yall have to get a clue. Everyone is talking about it, why not listen?
While Pelican Athletic Club offers a variety of classes and activities for kids during the summer which my 11-year-old enjoys their policies around drop-off and gym entry for minors are frustrating and inconsistent. Currently, parents are required to physically walk in children under a certain age during working hours. This creates a major inconvenience for working parents like myself and my husband. What's more confusing is that a 14-year-old can walk in unaccompanied, but my 11-year-old cannot even enter the facility with their 17-year-old sibling, who is considered old enough to come in alone. This policy feels arbitrary and outdated, especially during the summer when many kids are attending camps or classes while parents are at work. Adding to the frustration is the lack of consistency among staff. Not everyone enforces this rule the same way, which is why I was unaware of the restriction until recently. If the policy were applied clearly and uniformly, perhaps it wouldn’t be as frustrating but the mixed messaging makes it worse. We pay a premium price for this membership and expect clear, reasonable rules that support working families. I spoke to management about my concerns, but unfortunately, the conversation felt more like they were listening just to respond rather than to make any meaningful change. Pelican could be a great place for families, but unless they reevaluate these policies and improve communication among staff, it’s hard to justify the cost and hassle.
Super late review from a Highschool tennis player… They have nice courts and it’s all about tennis for me!! Great pool and scenery
I have been a member for about 5 months now and am updating my original 5 star review, I wish I could give them more than five stars. I have taken several of the group classes here and I love them. I am getting in great workouts and the instructors are awesome. Yoga and Barre are great with fantastic instructors, my personal favorite class is The Red Zone, it’s a high energy class set to music and the instructor, Denise, is amazing. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and have shown me alternate exercises to help work around knee pain, basically they make the classes accessible by offering alternate exercises if you need them while sill making you feel included in the class. Between, eating healthier and taking advantage of what the club has to offer I have dropped over 50 pounds since joining. I couldn’t be happier. (Original post follows) The Pelican Athletic Club is phenomenal. Everything there is high end, high quality, clean, and I would go so far as to say luxurious. They have all the free weights, machines, and cardio you could ever ask for. Tennis courts, basketball courts, and two pools. The locker room/bathroom/shower area is huge, extremely clean, and classy. I stayed away from it for a long time because of the membership price, however, now that I have joined I think it is worth every penny. I particularly like the pool for the great cardio workout I get from lap swimming. They have a ton of classes from yoga to HITT, I haven’t done one yet personally but when I have looked in on them they look fantastic, I am looking forward to giving a class a try. This place is so much more than a gym and I feel as though the premium price is well worth the premium services they provide. I highly recommend the club. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how friendly and professional the staff are, they are outstanding.
I joined this health club last week, and I have not miss a day of coming here. All the classes and the instructors are great. I'm in love!!!
