The Gateway Region YMCA is a St. Louis-area association that operates summer day camps across 20+ locations in the metro and Metro East. Most day camps run 9:00am–4:00pm and offer age-tailored programs for children roughly ages 5–12, from traditional camps (arts and crafts, games, nature, swimming, field trips) to special-interest camps; before- and after-camp care (Fun Club) extends hours from 7:00am to 6:00pm.
The practical details
We list only what the camp itself publishes, and programs change — dates, prices, ages and availability can all move after we check. Confirm the details on the camp’s own website and contact Gateway Region YMCA directly before you register or pay. Last checked August 2026.

These people will make a mistake and try to pull money out of your account when they’re not supposed to. Then they charge you late fees on top of that. The Festus location lied and said I signed off for my membership to be taken out on the first when it was supposed to be taken out in the 15th. I drove down to the Festus location for them to show me what I signed, only then did they say that I was right. These people are dishonest and rude and their corp office is even worse.
Handicapped parking available but far compared to other ymca parking. Two paths to the door are not good for the handicapped walking in. The one on the right has additional ice, snow, and water or mud. The family showers need updating badly and have no panic button. Imagine a person working out and then showering having a stroke or heart attack with no help. Locked in a one person shower and can't call for help. The main workout area has been rearranged with the handicapped equipment moved upstairs with a view of the pool and not the TV screens.
They treat there members with no humility or respect. You get there and if you arrive 30 min before closing time they say you better hurry up were closing. The locker custodians are in charge of the closing procedures - yeah I'm not kidding the custodians. They walk into the lockers rooms and yell loud were closing in 10 min and then another yells were closing in 5 minutes. After there closed the director of Y comes down and tells you hurry up were closed. I was told that employees have families and want get home. When I'm getting harassed by them. I have my clothes on walking out of the locke room probably 3 minutes at best past closing time. Also the custodians start cleaning the locker room ten or 15 minutes before closing. I'm not kidding they push you out of that place. I'm putting my clothes on and there is a mop right in front of me. This place doesn't care about it's members. All about saving money therefore forcing the employees to start cleaning locker rooms earlier so they don't have to pay them. The YMCA is a joke - go to the Lodge of Des Peres or Jewish Community Center in Chesterfield. Both treat you with respect and have a grace period to get out after official closing time - they dont force you out like the Y. I will say this the Y's steam room is good that's the only reason I joined.
Front desk is nice and helpful. I like this location better than some of them downtown. It is much less crowded. I can go in, do my workout and be done without waiting. The one thing that I would change is the swim break every 45 min. I am a distance swimmer. I can not do 2 to 3 miles warm up and stretch in 45 min. If they could have just a 10 min break every 60 minutes, that may be a compromise. Adult only swim during break would be idea. Great front door parking, locker rooms not crowded, and it is very clean.
