Four Mounds is one of the most multifaceted places I know to exist, especially in the tristate area. There's the inn, the HEART program, and then extras like the ropes course and hosting events like weddings. The houses are kept in wonderful condition by the inn staff. The HEART program is incredible, definitely check out their website for info on that. We were lucky enough to have our wedding there this fall and the staff was very helpful with all of our questions and requests. Highly recommend staying here whether it's for one night or a whole week!
We loved our stay here. In fact, although they can host conferences with dozens of guests and individuals/families, we had the white house to ourselves for all three (weekday) nights of our stay. School has already started, and a wedding party was finished and gone before we arrived. Wonderfully restored Arts&Crafts era homes on a generous "campus", planted with plenty of vegetation and trees, and a few walking paths criss-crossed about. We only saw deer and wild turkeys - as the largest animals - during our stay, but I would not be surprised if one could also see raccoons, opossums, or foxes during the year. We saw a few birds, and heard the songs of many more, including grey catbirds, many multitudes of blue jays, and even a red-eyed vireo and some eagles flying about. The views of the Mississippi from the white house are beautiful, and the position of the property right up on a bluff almost guarantees frequent breezes.
Such a wonderful place! We stayed in the White House suite and absolutely loved it. We had to arrive late and Marie was so accommodating. Her breakfasts were so delicious and it was so fun meeting new people. We also ordered the picnic basket for one of our lunches and you could feel the care and love put into it! Thank you to the whole staff for making our anniversary so special!
We have been to weddings, fundraisers and other special events here. The grounds are multifaceted. They have a ropes course, a bed-and-breakfast, a gardens, and a teaching program. A little hidden gem are their walking paths that meander through the woods with outlooks to view magnificent Mississippi river views. There’s even a cabin that you can rent out also. The Four Mounds foundation is currently working on a habitat of restoration of nearby Prairie.
