First Encounters: An Art Studio for Little Ones
Private
First Encounters is a Fort Wayne studio offering art-viewing and art-making experiences designed for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers (roughly 6 months to age 5), run by an early-childhood art educator. It provides sensory-focused early art classes rather than a school-age summer camp.

Powered by GoogleWe love our experience and Ms. Kathy is great with the children. My son is developing his motor skills while being creative and having fun. We also love the small class size, they pay attention to every child. Thank you Ms. Kathy and family for all your hard work.
My daughter, Salem has been attending the art classes for years now and absolutely loves them and looks forward to going. We plan to continue going to them as long as we can and attending the infant ones as I am due any day now with Salems little sister. We have kept every piece Salem has created as they are all beautiful pieces!
We’ve been attending First Encounters for two years, and it’s been such a meaningful part of our daughter’s early years. Dr. Kathy Danko-McGhee brings so much knowledge and joy to each class, and you can tell how deeply she cares about the children. Our daughter has explored everything from sculpture, wood art, charcoal, clay, collage, paper making, stitching, texture studies, lanterns, and even creative boat building — all while learning about artists from around the world. Art has truly become an important part of her life and confidence, and we’re so grateful for the foundation she’s building here.
We can't say enough good things about Dr. Danko-McGhee's art program for little ones. Our granddaughter has participated since she reached the age eligibility. The time and location are ideally suited for families on the go, the classes are organized with all the materials supplied, and our granddaughter looks forward to attending each session. We've already booked her for all the 2026 sessions.
I love this creative outlet for my son. We have both learned so much about working with different mediums and art styles from around the world. Kathy is extremely kind and patient with my son. It is truly a fun and unique experience.
