First Coast Cultural Center in Ponte Vedra Beach, a nonprofit arts organization, runs week-long summer art camps for children ages 6-12, Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm. Led by professional art teachers, campers create 2D and 3D artwork tied to a weekly theme, exploring the center's galleries and outdoor space as they draw, paint, sculpt, and build. Individual weeks run from late May through early August.

They've been doing it for over 30 years and it is a staple festival to attend in Ponte Vedra or the Jacksonville Beach area. It's great because it's not just crafty items, but high quality handmade pieces such as furniture, wood carvings, jewelry, clothing, glasswork, ect. They also have some great retail names that attend the shoppes to sell stuff like shoes, accessories, very nice jewelry at great prices, and sweets.

I recently took a class with Ellen Diamond a vivatius, enthusiastic, kind woman and a phenomenal artist who shares her love and knowledge of art with everyone she meets. I not only learned some great sketching and watercolor techniques with Ellen but I made friends in the class. It was one of the best evenings I've ever spent There are many other classes that are offered at the cultural center that enable us to get a feel for the local artists and really see how talented our friends are here in Ponte Vedra. Whether you are visiting pontevedra on vacation or a coming over from Amelia island or just live in the area make sure that you take some time to visit the Cultural Center.
