Elks Camp Moore is a free overnight camp in the mountains of Haskell/Wanaque for children and young adults with special needs and disabilities, run since 1971 as the New Jersey State Elks Association's state major project. Sessions run Sunday afternoon to Saturday morning for around 60 campers at a time, split by age band into younger (7-12) and older (13-18) weeks, with recreational camp activities aimed at building independence. Camp is free to families: each camper is sponsored by a local Elks Lodge, which pays the full cost of attendance. Spring and fall respite programmes serve individuals aged 19 and up.

James had the most wonderful week at the “Miracle on the Mountain”!! Everyone was amazing and James was so very lucky to have the Incredible Ella as his counselor. She’s the BEST!!! We hope that James has the honor of returning again next summer and for many more to come! Thank you Camp Moore!!! ❤️

My son had a great time. He said it was very fun. He always has a great time at camp. He did all sorts of activities like swimming, music, art, recreation and they even had a trip to the beach. It is always a pleasure coming back. The rain did not stop the fun. Great job Camp Moore and all the fantastic counselors.

This place is truly a magical place for our kiddos with special needs. The counselors and staff are truly remarkable people. They have a passion for the special needs community and it shines through with the love, patience, kindness, passion, attention and care. This was our first time sending our teenage daughter who has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy and is non-verbal. She is bound to her stroller. But they made all the necessary arrangements to have that not even be an issue. They truly went above and BEYOND for the week that she stayed there. From Todd on down to the nurse, the chef and our amazing counselor Natalie, and the rest of the counselors and staff we are eternally grateful! Our daughter had an amazing time and the only regret we have is that we didn't send her sooner! From her medications being administered timely and properly, to her very picky eating regiment, to Natalie making sure Lillie was comfortable and having fun, we left her in better hands that when she was with us. Ha! We received nightly updates and photos/videos of how she was doing and the activities they did that day. They are ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! You have nothing to fear. Your child will be well taken care of and then some. The week of respite for us flew by. But we are so thankful to the Elks and the staff and counselors at Camp Moore for giving us such an amazing gift of respite but more importantly getting our daughter out, having her make new friends and gifting her such an amazing experience. We all can't wait for next year! If you are looking to send your child to a Camp for special needs, then look no further than the Elks Camp Moore!
