★Angie EbornOur experience with Keri at Elite Dance Studio ended in a deeply disappointing and hurtful way after many years of loyalty and support. My daughter danced there for seven years, starting at just four years old. After losing her father in a tragic car accident, our family faced an incredibly difficult season. As a single mother working full time, I still made sure my daughter continued dancing, even securing sponsorship support to ensure her tuition was paid throughout her final year there because dance was something she loved and needed emotionally. Instead of receiving compassion or professionalism during such a vulnerable time, I received a phone call after auditions questioning whether my daughter would have “family support.” The conversation felt one-sided, dismissive, and emotionally charged, with little room for respectful dialogue. In a profession centered around mentoring children and families, emotional regulation, empathy, and professionalism matter greatly — especially when working with grieving families and young dancers navigating trauma. What hurt most was that after years of dedication to the studio, one instance where I was late picking my daughter up from a recital became something personal rather than a moment handled with understanding or grace. Life circumstances happen, and I was already carrying more than most people knew. Instead of support, I felt judged and spoken down to during one of the hardest chapters of my life. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe families deserve to know that technical talent and studio success should also be matched with compassion, maturity, and the ability to separate personal feelings from leadership responsibilities. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.
