I am very disappointed with my experience at the YMCA, especially with the Aquatic Director’s rude and unprofessional behavior. Concerns were handled dismissively, creating an unwelcoming environment. The no-makeup policy for missed classes is also extremely unfair, especially considering the high fees non-members pay. If classes are missed, the YMCA should at least offer refunds or credits instead of simply keeping the money without providing the service. The YMCA should focus more on customer service, respect, and fair policies for families and members.

Honestly, just Go to Meyer center if you want to work out. It’s always 400 degrees in the gym,and water doesn’t work. There’s a free water sign outside the door, but when you ask staff about it they say you have to pay. They’re always randomly shut down - sometimes bits for weeks at a time. Getting the child watch workers to interact with the kiddos is like pulling teeth (Meyer center girls are always so friendly and engaging with the kids, It put my mind at ease leaving my kid with them) They literally kicked me out yesterday for my shoes.. where Meyer center has never given me issue for not wearing tennis shoes when I work out due to medical conditions- I just avoid areas that may be a problem. The fact I had just signed my kid for pre school here is giving me severe anxiety because I don’t want her to be trapped in a place with such low expectations. Definitely a completely different experience than Meyer

The swim instructors have been great! The Edwardsville Y used to be a great place with lots of activities for children. They have cut many programs - open gymnastics, climbing wall, open swim times, and after school skate to name a few. This place is profit driven without children or community in mind.

this post makes me sad to write. I don’t think I’ve ever consider leaving anyone a one star review. But the YMCA gets my first, this branch in particular. One day, as I was in the pool with my two little cousins, this older women life guard informs me I am not allowed to help my cousins learn to swim because I am a liability?? Despite there being an older gentlemen in the pool who I talked to who said he was teaching his granddaughters to swim, and they never have said anything to him about it. And I have been there multiple times with my cousins and no one has said anything to me. So what’s the difference between me teaching my cousins and the grandpa teaching his granddaughters?? This older woman lifeguard informed me that I wasn’t allowed to teach my cousins how to swim that they would have to join the YMCA swim lesson program. Despite me not getting payed by anyone to teach, doing it because they are family, this intense lifeguard didn’t care. I was shocked. I have a membership that I PAY for. And they have a membership THEY pay for. I signed paper work, also very few members of the staff have been friendly. I NEVER rate anyone 1 star, I don’t like the negative energy. But this place deserves 0 stars. I just don’t understand, I have seen so many people teach there kids, grandkids, and family members to swim here, but all of the sudden I am Rudely told I am a liability.
