Education in Action is a Keller-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose Lone Star Leadership Academy is a Sunday-through-Friday overnight summer camp for outstanding 3rd-8th graders. Campers travel as a group to one of three Texas regions - Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio or Houston/Galveston - visiting significant state sites while working on leadership development and character-building. Participation runs through nomination, and the organization's Road Scholarship program funds youth who cannot afford the cost. Alumni Council members go on to lead service projects, and monthly online leadership lessons are offered to nominees.

★sam valdellonI could give this leadership camp experience a rating of 10 but sadly it won't be possible. We paid for this camp for our kid to develop/train her skills on how to be a future leader. Unfortunately, this experience somehow failed her. Almost all staffs/facilitators were good, with the exception of MARK LEDERMAN. Mr. LEDERMAN had several display of unprofessionalism on his interactions with our child and others. His temperament and treatment towards the group of children was at most very rough and edgy. This could have been a great experience, but it's been ruined by one of the facilitators, and for that reason, I think the program was not worth the money. Location: Houston/Galveston TX
★★★★★AmandaMy son had a great time at The Lone Star Leadership camp! I can't say enough about the people that run this camp they really helped me and my son during his stay. My son is a very picky eater and in the pictures they posted I noticed he wasn't eating very well so I contacted the director. They made sure to talk with my son to help him with with food choices and helped ease my concern. They also went above and beyond by getting him his own Cheese Pizza with no sauce for their pizza party even though they don't do special orders. They were so accommodating and understanding, I'm so very happy that my son went. He will definitely go to the next one in San Antonio! The only thing I am not very fond of is the fact that you have no contact with your kids even at least one time while they're there, but they do post lots of pictures to make sure that you can see the fun that they are having ( I had already handwritten notes to be delivered to him each day) on top of if any emergencies or any problems you can contact the camp director. This was a neat experience for my son and the fact that he was able to tour/ visit big events ( cattle drive, perot museum, john wayne museum, Dallas cowboys stadium....ect) learning about leadership and being a team all while taking in the sites of Dallas.

★★★★★Krista Thornleyur 4th graders had a blast on their field trip to the capitol in Austin and Inner Space caverns. Both visits lined up perfectly with the 4th grade Science and SS TEKs. The buses were very nice and clean and the food was yummy! Education in Action is extremely organized and sends you everything you could possibly need for the trip, including movies for the trip and games!!
★Brad TuffsTook the 4th grade tour of TX Capitol and wasn't informed we would not have a tour guide on the trip. Parents are supposed to give tours of museums to 5-7 fourth graders? Bus TVs didn't work and so half of the students couldn't watch for the 4 hours of travel Time each way. Our kids wanted to leave over an hour early due to boredom.
