We just saw John Lloyd of the Frankie V movie. The space and theatre are very nice. The building and rounds are older, but we'll maintained. The seats are fine. They do sell snacks, wine before the show. Clean bathrooms. Plenty of parking and it sits on a lake so very scenic. GO AND ENJOY!!

We went to see Rotton at the main theater last night. What a fantastic experience! Reviews are right, the theater is just small enough that there are no bad seats. Before the show the crowd gets to enjoy a beautiful foyer and patio overlooking the lake. They offer beer, wine & candy concessions. You have to get a cup with a lid to take drinks into the theater. The parking lot is shared with the lake park so it's free and large. But I could see it getting full. Especially if multiple shows were going on simultaneously in the various performance spaces. The theater and park are tucked way back inside of a residential area but there are multiple signs along the route to guide you there. The performance we saw was AMAZING!!! The sets, lights costumes, & sound were all excellent! I assumed the majority of the cast were equity ringers from NYC or something. At intermission I was shocked to read that many of them, including the leads didn't have many shows under their belts. This is a real testimony to a director and casting team that can spot and nurture talent. My wife and I have both been involved in live theater for decades and we were very impressed the most by the blocking and direction. Every scene struck such an ideal balance of perfectly motivated movement without distracting from the focus of the scene. Presenting a musical with so much tap dancing was also very impressive. The music and singing was great. The seats were comfortable for the 2 hour show. The cost was very reasonable. I can't wait to go see another musical there. I highly recommend this venue as a real quality place to see a show.

Yesterday, we went to see “ Strictly Murder”. It was our first venture to the Delray Beach Playhouse. A charming theatre, one can appreciate at times when community theatres are disappearing. On to the review of the play. The acting was superb, as good a performance as any rivaling a Broadway performance. As we have experienced, it is not the actors determining the success or failure, but the subject matter. I determined the first 10 minutes where the story line was going and who was really who. A more contemporary murder mystery would draw more interest in a demographic more diversified. The choices at this Playhouse seem to be geared to an older crowd exclusively. Younger generations also enjoy theatre but find it difficult to relate to many generations prior material. Anyway, we were a group of three, seemingly younger than most of the theatre goers, and hopeful the future choices include some modern material. This Playhouse clearly has the talent, just needs diversification.

A great holiday show with 4 talented young women/actresses. Comical, interactive, stylish & a lil' twist in traditional Xmas songs. It takes you back to a time that you wish you'd lived again, when things were simpler.
