Catholic Charities CYO Camp is an overnight summer camp near Occidental in western Sonoma County, set on 216 acres of redwood forest and meadow about six miles from the coast. Serving campers roughly in grades 2-8 since 1946, it offers hiking, swimming, archery, and other activities in a Catholic community that welcomes children of all religious backgrounds, with values-based themes of community, stewardship, and friendship. Heated cabins house campers.

★Brad CookedWhen I was younger, I was so excited to visit this place hearing many good stories about it. Little did I know, it would become my greatest nightmare. Every night, I would wake up and feel something rubbing on my face but every time I would open my eyes, I would hear rustling and it would dissapear. I felt something going from my lips to my ear and the next day I woke up with something that ran from my lips to my ear and it felt like dried soda. I never got a good night of sleep. Caritas CYO Camp tops the list of camps in so many categories ranging from camp staff to location to the cafeteria food to the message and values shared. If I could change only one aspect of our 6th grade student curriculum across all schools I would make camps like this accessible to all, not just our CYO schools. The kids go through a magical transformation in which they experience events that may be daunting to them initially but upon completion leave them with an increased sense of confidence and love for the outdoors. The chef and cooking staff are exceptional. They made gluten free food especially for me. The Italian soup was the best I have ever had. Thank you cooking staff! A huge shout out to Dawud who was the teacher naturalist of our group. He is an inspiration to the students, staff and parents. His enthusiasm, compassion and ability to connect are top notch.
