Craftsbury Outdoor Center is a nonprofit outdoor-sports center in Craftsbury that runs summer sculling (rowing) and running camps for participants ages 12 and up; scullers under 15 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Camps run as weekend and four-day sessions with on-water instruction, video review, and use of a sculling shell suited to each rower. Younger children looking for a traditional camp are directed to its sister camp, Hosmer Point.

★★★★TiffI’ve been a few times on trips organized by the Appalachian Mountain Club, and it’s especially great as a group experience with shared rooms and common space to hang out together. Having hearty, farm-fresh meals cooked for you after a full day skiing their beautiful trails is such a treat. A few furniture updates and cozier lighting in the shared spaces would go a long way, but overall this is a great place to enjoy the outdoors.
