Our kids have been attending CCP’s Imagination 101 camp with Miss Chrissy since they were 8 and 10. It has been gratifying to see them (our kids, their friends, and the program itself) grow over the years. They have formed some great friendships (I type this as they are spending time with a subset of those friends getting pizza and ice cream after camp). This camp is not a babysitting experience for your kids. They learn their roles, whether ensemble, a named role or a lead. The camp has added workshops on improv, auditioning tips, and more. The kids work with their fellow cast members in between directed efforts on rehearsing lines, dances and songs, much the way your kids that play sports practice both on campus and off and sometimes sit on the sidelines when it’s not their turn to play in the game. Sometimes they sit quietly and chat. With EIGHT DAYS’ preparation, the whole camp puts on a 1.5 to 2 hour show, twice on a Friday, completely off book with detailed choreography and placement. Even the young kids that are in ensemble (including ours who have served in that role and in named roles over the years) learn that they play a part, whatever the size, in putting on a show. They learn humility, being part of a team effort, supporting their friends, how to speak up, how making mistakes isn’t the end of the world, and how all types of people with all types of talents come together. This year, the camp has been directed primarily by Ms Moe. She has done a phenomenal job, and our kids are looking forward to returning next year even though next summer one will be entering 8th grade and the other will be entering 10th grade. It’s been great. No experience is perfect, but I wouldn’t take back or change any of our kids’ experiences with CCP. Time and money well spent. Looking forward to Beetlejuice this Friday!!

My daughter has been performing with Charm City Players Imagination 101 Summer Camp since kindergarten. She is now going into middle school. We live an hour away from where they hold summer camp and every year it is my daughters #1 pick for a summer activity despite the long drive. The care Ms. Chrissy and the staff show the kids is great. My daughter loved Ms. Rose and Ms. Bella as camp directors this year. She also loves all the counselors. Also, despite not knowing specifically who will be attending each camp during the summer my daughter ALWAYS makes new friends, and has the best time. What is most invaluable is my daughter seeing how much work goes into a theater production, and how every persons role is important and matters for the overall production. She has learned that theater is truly a team effort. She gets so excited when the new musicals are announced for the next summer. Thank you Ms. Chrissy and staff for building up my daughters self confidence and sense of belonging!

Charm City Players is great! My daughter has had the best experience! This summer will be her third camp and she can’t wait for it to begin. She has learned so much, and her love for the theatre has grown! The staff is so professional and knowledgeable. She has made lifelong friendships!

Third year and counting with Charm City Players summer theatre program. My child has been performing in musical theatre productions in our small town on the Eastern shore since she was 5. It is her passion. Our first year she knew no one. My child has a diagnosis of anxiety which I informed the program director about. Her first day jitters were immediately addressed and her first time there 2019 session she got a small, speaking role that suited her. The summer of 2020 the program was able to pull off all of their productions during the pandemic! My daughter was in 2 and over the moon. This summer she is in 2 more productions and thrilled. She has repeatedly told us if she had to pick going on our yearly beach vacation over this program, THE SHOW MUST GO ON! This is traditional musical theatre. Younger/inexperienced children get ensemble parts, older/experienced children get speaking/singing roles. If only we'd found this program years ago. Thank you Charm City Players for making my child's summer fabulous.

My daughter attended the camps this summer. First was Matilda, then High School Musical and lastly she will attend the Beauty and Beast camp. She has had a fantastic time! She is learning a lot. She has had ample time to sing, dance and act. She loves the fast pace of putting on a production in 6 days. It’s challenging and fun! Chrissy( the director) is super responsive, friendly and accommodating to all needs. This has been a highlight to my daughter Gabby’s summer!!! She’s already asking about next summer. We travel 45 min one way to get here and it’s worth it! If you are looking for a fast paced, fun, high level theatre camp, this is for you! This is a haven for theatre kids looking to expand their knowledge and get opportunities!
