Charis Hills is a Christian residential camp in Sunset, Texas, west of Dallas-Fort Worth, serving children, teens and young adults with high-functioning autism, ADHD, ADD and other learning differences. It runs seven one-week sleepaway sessions each summer — kids' sessions for ages 7 to 14 and teen sessions for ages 13 to 18 — plus a young adult camp for ages 18 to 29 and a family weekend for families with neurodiverse members. The camp states a 1:3 counselor-to-camper ratio, and tuition covers full room and board, supplies, instruction, supervision, a Bible and a camp T-shirt. Charis Hills is a 501(c)(3) displaying ACA and CCCA accreditation; limited scholarships are offered and the camp publishes a list of outside campership funders for families.

Powered by GoogleBelonging!!!!! This was my son’s first year at this camp. He went to another camp for a few years, but asked to stop going. His dad and I have been trying to find a place where he really feels like he belongs. He has high functioning autism, adhd, and epilepsy. He fit right in. After 1 week at Charis, he is already planning to go back. He said everyone was a friend to him (!!) and he was even wondering about going for 2 weeks next year. He had so much fun. At drop off and pick up, we saw how many thoughtful practices and community building traditions that made everyone feel celebrated, encouraged to grow, and loved. We love that they teach the campers about Christ and how to grow in their walk with Him. Thank you Charis Hills Staff!
What an amazing experience. The staff is wonderful. The facilities are amazing. My child had the week of a lifetime. He developed confidence in himself, found friends he absolutely loves, and had so much fun. This was a life altering experience for him. He's now confident enough to go out into the world a little, something he was not before. Who knew that 5 1/2 days would make such a difference in him. The experience was truly miraculous.
My son just returned from his 4th year at Charis Hills. He loves it and we love it! The staff and counselors have always been so encouraging, supportive, patient and loving. CH has been a huge part of his development of a positive view of himself and his identity. He has been maturing in his faith through CH! It truly is a place of grace for kiddos, like my son, to discover new things they can be good at and enjoy that they may not have otherwise explored. My son, before camp, had a hard time participating in field games. At camp he learned he can enjoy these games and even help younger kids! I recommend this place to almost everyone I talk to! I tell his teachers and other parents all the time! Thank you, Charis Hills, for another great summer session 1!
Charis Hills was a wonderful experience for our son. He immediately asked to go back next year. He thrived at camp and his confidence soared. Everyone we interacted with was professional and compassionate. We will make this a regular part of our summer.
Highly recommend. My kiddo has gone two years and will 💯 be back next summer. The staff is so caring and supportive. So many choices for activities with the structure my child needs to thrive. We love this place and I’m so grateful for a place that sees my neurodivergence child for the beautiful human that they are.
