I came here for 1 session way back in 2000 and still remember how amazing and fun it was. Was my first and only time at a sleepaway camp, I came here all the way from northern California. My friend (who is very much a pioneer in every way) had attended the year before so now a whole larger group of us from northern California was headed out to small town Sugar Grove. Even though us west coasters were considered modern orthodox, the level was still a bit different from the east coast way and camp was more than willing to accept our differences and help us learn. I very much loved the surprise trips, Niagara Falls is one I will never forget! Still seems crazy to me how we all woke up at 5am, loaded onto how many buses with how many people to drive up there! In the end, I am glad I followed the recommendation of my friend for a summer I will never ever forget.

I know some Amish who work at the camp to help maintain this beautiful place. The mission of the camp is wonderful. When I lived outside of Sugar Gove I encountered families going or leaving the camp. These families are so polite and considerate of every they encounter. The Amish that live around the town or work at the camp are very appreciative of the people they encounter. The camp is a wonderful neighbors. This group of Amish are ultra Orthodox. They view the Jewish people as G ds chosen people and mindful of that relationship to their beliefs. It's wonderful to watch. Yes my genealogy is Jewish about ten generations ago. Son when I see the cappa im reminded of who I am

Beautiful place for kids from around the world. They take the kids out to many local establishments and let the kids do things they may not get to do at home. The kids are taken on camping, hiking trips, berry picking, bowling, ice skating, ice cream, just to name a few. They are taught their Jewish heritage and learn a lot. There are two semesters of campers.

This is my home, more or less. Even though I live somewhere else 11 months of the year, that one Camp Stone session is always the highlight of the year. Wonderful camp, inspiring mission, outstanding counselors, great programs. I still have (and use) years of projects from being a camper at Camp Stone, and I have tons of good memories. Plus, I like the way that it's tucked in the middle.of nowhere-- there is a real rugged, rural beauty to Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania.
