It is an overnight Scout summer camp where Scouts sleep in canvas tents or adirondacks across 29 lakeside campsites with modern showers and family-style dining, choosing from a wide range of merit-badge and advancement programs, including the Brownsea Island first-year program for newly bridged 10-to-12-year-olds.

I've been to many camps across the state and the U.S., but the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation will always be the most beautiful. Staff at other camps are always amazed when I tell them the scope of the programs offered here. National saw this camp and made The Summit because of the success we had in our high adventure programs.

We pulled in and while there were a couple of signs posted, we also noticed a visitors sign in sheet and the website is not indictive that appointments need to be made. We were approached by an aggressive person in a green truck who asked what we were doing there. I explained we were looking for local campgrounds and since I was a scout in my youth, I wanted to get more info about the camp. The man told us we had to leave, and when I asked if we could pull in and turn around, he forced us to reverse out of the driveway. The man never identified himself.

Made two trips here with Scouts as a leader. Very nice camp. Kids said it was one of the only places they wanted to go back to along with Daniel Boone

Camp Powhatan, Blue Ridge Mountain Council. What a great experience, the staff was great, our Youth had a great time, and our Adult Leaders were pleased with the adult programs offered. We were never left with unanswered questions, or not greated with a smile. We will be back :)
