Camp Lawton Scout Camp

★★★★½ 4.791 reviewsPima County, AZ

Private

Scout camp in the Santa Catalina Mountains about an hour from Tucson, run by the Catalina Council of Scouting America, with a dining hall, pool, archery and air-rifle ranges, campfire bowl, campsites and staff cabins, plus mountain-biking and hiking trails. Summer programming includes merit-badge scout camp sessions and a Camp Outdoor Adventure open to all youth ages 10-17 whether or not they are Scouts. The site sits roughly 20 degrees cooler than Tucson in summer, and cabins and campsites can be rented year-round.

A great place to bring Cub Scouts and Scouts for camp.

Awesome place for a family or large group! It is open to the public now! Great facilities for those who book. Super friendly care takers!

We had a blast! It is always fun camping up at Lawton and it is always so peaceful. We went up for Cub Scouts and had an amazing time.

Cabins nestled in the woods. Quiet, peaceful, refreshing place for retreat. We have an upper cabin with good bathroom, hot shower, and flashing toilet. There are couple of heaters in the cabin or you can open couple windows with screens if warm. Nice experience and stay! Workers here are good and place is clean.

I was hired to be a photographer for a wedding here. I don't suggest it for people who have a hard time walking, (or walking in heels) but it is a really unique spot once you reach the area. They have an amphitheater-type location for the wedding ceremony which looks out over the edge of the mountain boasting beautiful views. It's definitely cooler up there too! Bring a jacket or sweater...and FLAT comfortable SHOES! (or hitch a ride on the back of your groom like the bride did LOL (see photo))
