Camp Lakamaga is a Girl Scouts River Valleys resident (overnight) camp on 170 acres of forest, lake, prairie and wetland near Marine on St. Croix, less than an hour from the Twin Cities. Water activities are the camp's draw, and lodging ranges from yurts with bunk beds for twelve campers to three- and four-season cabins sleeping six. Girl Scouts River Valleys runs resident camp programs here through June, July and August, and the site also hosts an annual October event called Spookamaga. The property was originally the Rask Farm, one of Minnesota's oldest Swedish settlements.

★SamanthaWe walked into this beautiful camp as we heard that it is a great wedding destination connected to a beautiful lake. Making the trip with my friends as a bride to be. Driving over 2 hours, we were willing to do it due to the amazing reviews online. Unfortunately this did not turn out to be the case. As we stepped out of the car we started exploring the spot. Trying to find the over look of the lake and locating a spot to possibly have my future wedding. Seeing that there was a dinning hall and one of my friends had to use the bathroom, we stepped inside where there were a few staff members. One of them seeing us walk into but didn’t say anything. After my friend used the bathroom we continued on our journey. The vast woods and greenery were visible. We noticed the same staff member following us for approximately half a mile of walking. When we decided to stop and figure out what trail to take as there are many at this spot, the same staff member that was following us approached. With an extremely condescending attitude exclaimed “I’m sorry but what are you doing here” eying us as if we had just killed someone. Backed into an extremely awkward corner to the point where me nor my friends were able to speak. Something I’d never seen before. This staff member then said in the same attitude “this is private property and you need to leave” not being able to say anything else, our trip that had taken two hours was cut short. I felt absolutely heartbroken because I had seen so many amazing reviews about this spot and considered it one of my top picks for possible wedding. Due to this experience of an extremely rude and condescending staff member, I highly recommend that no one consider having their wedding here as the staff are not accepting of any bride to be.
