We sent our daughter to Camp Farwell this summer, and it was truly a wonderful experience. She had never been away from home before and had only dabbled a little in horseback riding, so we were a bit nervous about how she would adjust. From the moment we arrived, the staff made her feel comfortable, supported, and excited about the adventure ahead. Rachel and Marley were always present and available for quiet check-ins, which really helped put us at ease as parents. As a professional who works with children, I couldn’t have asked for better, reciprocal, and open communication than what we received. The horseback riding program was a highlight. Even though she was a beginner, the instructors were patient and encouraging, helping her build confidence in the saddle while keeping safety a top priority. By the end of her stay, she wasn’t just riding—she was glowing with pride, thrilled to have advanced to the next level. What impressed us most was how well the camp balanced fun, independence, and personal growth in a way that felt specific to our daughter. She made new friends, tried activities she never would have at home, and came back with stories we’re still hearing every day. It was the perfect blend of challenge and comfort for a first sleep-away experience. We are so grateful for the entire team at Camp Farwell and highly recommend it to any family looking for a warm, supportive, and adventure-filled all-girls camp. Our daughter can’t wait to go back next year!

To walk through Farwell, you see cabins, riding ring, a beautiful lake. The hallmarks of a traditional summer camp. What you don’t see, but can feel immediately, is the warmth of the people and the support of the Farwell community. Finding a place where your daughter can explore new activities, safely explore her independence, enjoy the outdoors while unplugging from the digital world is a gift. Our daughter’s summers at Farwell have helped shape her into the remarkable young lady she is today. She’s a Farwell girl forever.

I may be biased, but there is genuinely no better place for a young girl to grow and find herself than Camp Farwell. I went to this camp for nearly a decade- (so I think I should know that much!) Growing up with so many different people from all over the world has been life altering in a way no one will ever know unless they experience the magic themselves! It is truly amazing how this place has changed me. The person I am at home has been forged from the memories and independence this camp provides! Important lessons are learned- (ones especially essential to learn for young girls!) from simple as learning to part your hair, make a friendship bracelet, how to sail, to complex, such as empathy, independence, leadership, and even life paths- it was when I was young and I put a bandaid on a girls knee in 7th heaven (a cabin that I lived in when I was like 5) when I knew I wanted to become a doctor, to help people just like my mother (who also went to this camp!) And just like Marley and Rachel. Although these two are not doctors themselves, I have never EVER in the nine summers I’ve spent beneath the pines seen a camper that they can’t make happy. It’s hard to describe the magic in words- but this camp genuinely saved me! Post covid I was left with zero friends- but it’s when I rediscovered the magic where I learned that the best friends you will ever get the chance to meet are the ones most complicated to connect with outside of camp! It’s why I keep coming back- for the campers that make me smile, for the counselors leave those marks, for the directors, my summer family and my best friends- all who have changed my life for the better! I’ve seen a LOT of change in this camp, from the constant come and go of friends to a literal disco-game room with an iPad table (important to note that the game room used to be in a SHACK). But one thing always remains- that spirit, that bell, those laughs, and the unforgettable feeling of Farwell summers. (And of course year 3000 playing over and over my goodness 9 years strait of that stuff). I can’t imagine my life without them! But as I get older and plan to go into premed I (unfortunately) have to rip off the bandaid- but that doesn’t mean I won’t stay gone for long! If there is someone a parent reading all of this, I recommend getting your daughter into this camp at an early age- the independence it creates is mind boggling! And the memories she will make at this camp will last forever. If you see my name all over the cabin walls- than that is just strait proof of how much this camp has changed me! To compare, go into sap bucket or seventh heaven (my first cabins, age 5-6) and then go into hideaway (my cit cabin)! Marley, Rachel, if you’re reading this I love you guys!

Camp Farwell is the most amazing place. In July my 16-year-old daughter will be returning for her sixth summer session. She calls Farwell her ‘summer home' and looks forward to it throughout the year, a place she loves for the friendships and the special traditions and the daily activities – horse-riding and arts and archery and mucking about in boats; as a parent I love it for all these things and even more for the incredibly positive, nurturing environment that has helped my daughter grow and develop in really important ways. The physical setting is also just beautiful and I love that she has the chance to experience the outdoors in new ways. Something that really makes Farwell stand out is the diversity of the camp community - it is truly exceptional in this regard compared with similar girls’ camps we looked at, another great thing about Farwell that speaks to the vision and leadership of the camp owners and directors. It’s a fantastic place and any girl lucky enough to go there for even a single summer will benefit enormously. I couldn’t recommend Camp Farwell more highly!
