Ok this is very outdated but I went to this camp when I was 14 years old. It was back in 1997!! It was an amazing experience that I have never and will NEVER forget!! I learned things i still know today because of Camp Bournedale!! I see it's closed?? That isn't good!! It's July 5th!! They should be open?! I hope this place isn't shut down! 😪

I spent many summers here, both as a camper and counselor. To say they were incredibly formative and important to my childhood is an understatement. I'm in my late 20's now and I look back fondly on my time spent there, and wish I could relive those summers.

The summer day camp and overnite boys camp were great. My son had a blast and has begged to go back since the first time he went at 8 yrs old. He tried the overnite camp for the first time this year and had a blast! I loved the fact that you have the option to pay ($50?) for transportation for the day camp-the bus met in Kingston (morning and evening) so I did not have to drive all the way to exit 2 which saved me so much time in the morning since I commuted to Boston. The front of the camp where you drop off for day camp is a bit deceiving…the camp is beautiful and clean. Including the cabins. Beautiful view of the lake with an abundance of water sports and activities. (My son loves the iceberg-a giant blowup iceberg in the lake they can climb and jump off or slide down). My son has never once came home injured aside from a tiny bee sting and he’s a very active kid! Great choices for food. Even when my son was younger and a very picky eater at the time, they accommodated him. The owner and directors are very helpful when you have questions (if no one answers the phone try emailing camp) Great staff. They will drive you around the camp on a golf cart when you arrive and do a tour. Then you drive down back to the lake where the cabins are located to unpack and say your goodbyes! (Woohoo! lol) The nurse also does a covid test at intake (at least for the overnite camp they do this) but the whole process is very quick. For all camp registration they require a completed health form signed by a doctor and you can print it off their website. You can also register and make payments right on the website as well which I very much appreciated. They are flexible with payment. I usually sign up at the last minute due to our summers being very busy with family and sports. I’ve never had a problem registering in the summer. Even the week prior to him attending! There are early bird rates for signing up early in the year as well. During the first few years my son went to day camp, I had him go with a friend but that was partially my decision until I got to know the camp and staff. However, he would have been fine going on his own and felt comfortable doing so. Everyone is very friendly and he made plenty of friends. The first time he did overnite camp I also had him bunk with friends but again, he would have been fine without. The campers and staff all very welcoming. There were about 6-8 campers per cabin and 2 older chaperones. FYI the packing list on their website is overkill you don’t need to pack all that lol. They told me it’s an old list. They do not need dress slacks etc unless they are doing golf you can pack something more dressy casual but it’s definable not required..the website also said golf was extra however it’s not. At least for the over nite camp. My only slight complaint, is all the phone calls I have received during the school year asking if we are signing him up. I appreciate the check in, but I have spoken to them and later still received calls lol. It’s not a big deal but the phone calls may be a bit overkill…(one call is enough in my opinion) however I’m sure the camp would like to know for staffing purposes so I try to give them an idea of when he will likely be attending. Anyway, I hope this review helps any parents contemplating sending their child to camp! It is on the pricier side but everything is included and it’s worth it for your child’s amazing summer experience! I wish we could afford to send our son longer than we do..My son loves Camp Bournedale!

Although I never attended Camp Bournedale, I enjoyed being their UPS man back in the ‘90’s. Arnie and his excellent staff did a very professional job there. The kids were always having a blast. I got treated like one of the gang, too. Really made me wish I was young again, too!
