Calicinto Ranch runs a free three-to-five-day residential summer camp for children ages 7-11 who have one or both parents incarcerated; campers are referred through Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree programme rather than enrolled by families directly. Days include horseback riding, a swimming pool, crafts, basketball and volleyball, holding farm animals and country games, with homemade meals provided. The programme pairs camp activities with the Second Step problem-solving curriculum, Character Counts and a visit from a law enforcement officer. The 501(c)(3) ranch is explicitly Christian and separately rents its San Jacinto property to schools, churches and organisations for day trips, education field trips and overnight retreats.

Some of the students I serve are emotionally disturbed and have disabilities ranging from mild-severe and they all LOVED it! The Calicinto staff was so kind and patient with them and it made their day! The positive environment helped stabilize their anxiety during the entire day. Both students and staff enjoyed a wonderful time out in the fresh air. Calicinto supported our students throughout all activities including arts and crafts, horseback riding, a fun hay-ride and the petting zoo! Additionally, both students and staff were given a warm welcome, yummy lunch and a sweet send off at the end of our day! I can’t wait for my students to experience this again!
