Bronx Lacrosse is a nonprofit founded in 2017 that runs a year-round, school-based academic and athletic youth development program for underserved middle and high school students in the South Bronx, using lacrosse as the hook. Participants get daily tutoring, study halls, book clubs and reading intervention groups organized with school administrators, alongside mentorship, team building and behavioral support; the organization reports students gaining an average of two grade levels in reading and math in a year. In summer, participants attend lacrosse summer and adventure camps, and the organization is piloting a free July summer academy introducing lacrosse to middle school students across the borough.
