I was a “host home” for this program. I had 2-6 teens from this program in my house at once with no monetary assistance. A drug addict was placed with us and we evicted her because she was sneaking drug dealers into the house. We got berated for kicking her out, told we were horrible people and got completely cut off from the program. The kids in the house were cut off too. One was placed in housing so decrepit that a window actually fell on her and she was placed with the girl we evicted who brought actual Sacramento gang members into the home who threatened them. Other kids have been giving housing to only have it take. Away a week after moving in. They collected housing vouchers for children we had in our house and we never saw a cent.

I can’t tell you how important this program is to our community and youth. I and so grateful to the founders, volunteers and employees who empower our female youth and provide safe and educational opportunities for our children. Keep up the incredible and meaningful work you do!
