I want to start by saying that I love the YMCA, and this location is wonderful in many ways. However, I have been having some concerns with the childcare center. I don’t understand why there is such a great playground that seems to rarely be open. Today, my child came in excited because it was finally open. When we arrived, he was told he couldn’t go in because they were “done for the day,” even though there were still many children actively playing on the playground. He was absolutely devastated, and it was difficult to watch. From a child’s perspective, it’s hard to understand being told no while standing there watching other kids continue to play. It felt unnecessarily upsetting for him. I also feel that a happy, engaged toddler is generally much easier to supervise than one who is frustrated and upset. I would appreciate more consistency regarding playground access and clearer communication about when it is available. I truly value the YMCA and hope this feedback can help improve an otherwise positive experience.

The Concord Road Brentwood YMCA has really gone downhill. The men’s locker room and showers are constantly filthy — not just occasionally messy, but consistently dirty. For a facility that charges premium membership rates, basic cleanliness shouldn’t be a recurring issue. It’s also extremely overcrowded. Ever since the other locations closed, this branch feels packed at almost all hours. It honestly seems like leadership didn’t think through the impact of consolidating members into one already busy facility. What’s most frustrating is that membership fees continue to go up, yet the experience continues to decline. I’ve spoken with management about the locker room conditions and overcrowding, and nothing changes. It feels like concerns go in one ear and out the other. At this price point, members deserve better.

Wow, a lot of mixed reviews. I can only speak to what I have experienced. Tina at the front desk in the mornings is the absolute best. She knows everyone and have never met a welcome team member as great as she is. She has had 100+ people in the gym and she knows everyone by name. I hope they realize how big a gift it is to have her. I go to the gym in the morning and have 2 things to mention. There are limitations to when you can bring guests because of this Y absorbing others. And secondly, most of the time you can get to any piece of equipment you need. Of course there are times when you can’t, life often works this way, can’t get what you wish, but that is par for the course. For context, I came from a gym that was really small and that at most would have 10 people in it. And then to go to this Y was a shock, but have loved it!

YMCA had 3 facilities in this area (Cool Springs, Maryland Farms and Concord Road Y) and now they squeezed everyone in one club. Surely they built up a little addition to Concord Road Y but the showers remained the same, adult locker rooms the same size as well. They added some equipment but some remained at the same amount (like just one leg press !!!) Anyway, often from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. the club packed like sardines in a can, really overcrowded. Cleanliness is so so, janitorial staff often just stand and chat with each other or doing something on phones. Look on those huge windows that treadmills are facing - they hardly clean them once every season, most likely.

The Y in Brentwood is a great place for some summer fun. It has 2 lap swimming pools, one outdoors alongside a set of slides and regular pools, and one lap pool inside. The basketball courts, though we're a bit of a letdown. They are dusty, and the lighting is not the greatest for shooting. There is a lounge area with lots of tables and 2 vending machines as well, though. The gym is small, though, but has an outdoor workout area. The outside looks very nice and refinished. However, you can tell the inside is worn and older.
