Powered by GoogleI would give ZERO if I could The Boys and Girls Club is known KNOWN everywhere for a safe place for kids to go. When I was a kid we were at ours (Chicago) every DAY after school and during the summer. So, when I seen that my grandkids, who are 8 & 10 years old mind you, drop off after school from the bus was at the B & G club here in A.J. I was happy. Even figured they might WANT to go there after school for a while and blow some steam off, make some new friends, you know.. play.. be kids. So my daughter is at my house waiting for the kids to call and let her know they're close so she can start on her way and my granddaughter calls to say they're there and waiting and to hurry please because it's hot. She didn't call her BEFORE they got there today.. So I see she's on FaceTime and I see she's OUTSIDE.. CHEEKS flushed, sweating. Just to clarify- it's AUGUST in ARIZONA we are in the middle of an EXTREME HEAT ADVISORY So I say the obvious Go inside honey..just wait by the door so you see mom I can't go inside she said They won't let us. They lady said we HAD to wait outside I think I might have had a stroke or blacked out (I'm being snarky here) because those were the last words I heard My daughter waved and husseled out the door (takes 3 min about to get to them) And I had to regroup I have NEVER LEFT A REVIEW IN MY LIFE but this is how people get information now so here I am.. banging out this anger on my phone Because THIS IS just UNACCEPTABLE My daughter went in and asked why they weren't allowed to wait inside We don't let non members in sorry They're not our responsibility The school bus has the contract with the school not us they just use this location as a stop It's 110 degrees out - my daughter says then We could sign them up and then they can come in So there it is $__$_$$$$ Money before ANYTHING I will NEVER support this location in anything they do! I would sign a petition to restaff the whole damn place Keep this in mind when you're looking to have your child under the supervision of people who will let two children wait outside in the sun and heat while they're sitting in their air conditioned building that was built for kids! KNOWING the kids were outside THEY KNEW they were outside because they told them to back out there! NO here's a water NO you can stand by the door but no further just sorry no you can't come in because you're not a member Shame on you And I was told it wasn't the first time either.. that's why she calls BEFORE they get there Wow
They help save the family, by any definition.
I wasn’t going to leave a review but I feel it’s necessary. Let me start by stating the staff I interacted with was very nice. Never had an issue. However when a facility doesn’t let you see what the classes look like and what the grounds look like BEFORE your children start -is a red flag . The meetings held to introduce parents to Boys and girls club need to be held when the children leave if safety is an issue . That was red flag number one . A couple weeks of my children attending , my child began to complain of stomach aches. Naturally- I left work to get them. And this continued . A couple days after picking my child up - Both of my children came down with a HORRIBLE stomach bug! They woke up 4 nights in a row vomiting . They have NEVER been sick like that . We decided to keep them away for a couple weeks. They were fine. We needed the boys and girls club for one last week. Took them Monday. Wednesday comes and complaints of stomach pains happen AGAIN. By Friday night BOTH of my children once again were up vomiting ! I had to leave this review because I TRULY TRULY feel this boys and girls club is NOT sanitizing! That or it’s the food. It is No coincidence that this place has gotten my children terribly sick not once but twice . I am leaving this review in hopes it sparks some thought for this facility to make sure everything is CLEAN and wiped every night ! I can’t tell you what the facility looks like bc they wouldn’t allow us to see it . But I know from what the front desk told me is that when my child was very first complaining of tummy pain - they sent home a couple other children due to vomiting . It’s very upsetting.
I love it here! The teen center is amazing and the prices are great. They offer so much for the kids here.
Over reacts on EVERYTHING, apparently doesn't understand children at all or at last ones with adhd. They exaggerate extremely and apparently don't communicate with each other. Got a call one day that my son was being violent with the staff to find out he tossed his hat one the floor like a child having a hissy fit not getting aggressive. They said he hit a staff member with his hat, he tossed it to the four so how they got that is beyond me. He tried to do a magic trick but it went wrong so ofcourse he just had to be sick or crying for help. While speaking with them they informed how the year before that they had to call 911 to have a girl taken to the hospital where she did something similar. I'm wondering was she to just a hyper kid messing stubs and became victim of adults that decided to take something too far? They more then less told me next time they'll call on him to get him help. Funny how he doesn't have issues like these at school, then again they're equipped to care for children. Also funny how one of the girls he has issues with were she's supposedly the victim is one of the girls way before he went to boys and girls club would bully and pick on him. They have zero tolerance for him calling a girl a brat but don't notice when it's multiple kids messing with him. They say he's short fused, I wonder why. Two years he's been bullied and messed with, the school has taken notice and had even told me but no one ever messes with John there he just reacts to nothing.
