I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing and unnecessarily stressful for my family. My child was initially accepted into this summer program, and based on that official acceptance, I made summer arrangements and planned accordingly. As a single mother, securing reliable childcare is not easy, and being informed less than two weeks before summer begins that my child was being moved to a waitlist due to over-enrollment created an incredibly difficult situation. While an email we received was polite and apologetic, the situation itself reflects a serious lack of organization, planning, and accountability. Families — especially working parents — rely on these programs and make important decisions based on the information provided. Once acceptance notices are sent, parents should be able to trust that commitment will be honored. The most upsetting part was not only the inconvenience and stress of suddenly scrambling to find alternative childcare on such short notice, but also having to explain to my child that something they had already been accepted into was suddenly no longer guaranteed because of administrative issues beyond our control. No child should have to experience that kind of disappointment. I understand that unexpected challenges can arise, but proper enrollment management and clearer communication should have happened before acceptance notifications were sent out. Unfortunately, this experience left me questioning the professionalism, reliability, and overall management of the program. I sincerely hope changes are made moving forward so other families do not experience the same stress, inconvenience, and disappointment.

Bad experience with Summer care at Orange Park Jr. with the female teachers yelling at students and the teachers talking bad about my son in front of me. I gave an extra star because the summer care at Montclair has been great. It’s a drastic difference between the two schools. I appreciate that the boys and girls club offers summer care but I think the teachers are just too overwhelmed with the middle school aged kids and assume the worst of that age. Just a heads up to parents.

I thought this place is good for my kid initially, but it turned out to be a major disappointment. Just like the schools, they are failing the kids. Huge promises … no deliverables!!!

The B&GC COVID-19 negative testing policy causes unnecessary risk and stress to children. My child had a positive test and it was a very traumatic experience. The Florida Department of health had cleared my child to return to school. The B&GC had communicated to us that they had a 14 day requirement vs the FDoH 10 day requirement. I was told my child could return after 14 days. They refused to accept the Department of Health letter citing my child was clear of COVID-19. The staff placed my child in a room alone until my wife was there to pick our child up. When my wife told our child that another COVID-19 had to be done, it elicited a hysterical response. The staff says it's all about the safety of the children. However, according to medical studies and CDC the majority of children that catch COVID-19 are asymptomatic. The B&GC need to change their policy and follow the DoH and CDC recommendations, after all, they are the experts.
