Private
The Alamo Area Council of Scouting America (Boy Scouts of America) runs summer camps for boys and girls aged 5 to 20 across more than 1,500 acres at three properties: Bear Creek Scout Camp, Mays Family Scout Ranch and McGimsey Scout Park. Its summer line-up includes Bear Creek resident summer camp, the WEBELOS Akela Adventure Camp - a shorter introduction to resident camp for Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts working in patrols - and a Cub Scout day camp. The 2026 flagship session, 'The Bear Claw' (June 14-20), is a five-day challenge-by-choice program for youth 13 and older who have finished 8th grade, covering climbing, COPE, aquatics and zip lining. The council service centre is at 2226 N.W. Military Highway in San Antonio.

Powered by GoogleCool place for youth and adults to learn about the natural world, social responsibility and duty to country. The Musselman Scout shop carries scouting uniforms, books and tools to be successful in scouting. Friendly and knowledge service is always had in the shop. They do not carry Sea Scout Uniforms but do carry some Seas Scout insignia.
From an Eagle Scout: Over the years growing and learning in scouting, I can say with confidence that no-one is infallible. Regardless of how much of a facade they display to the contrary. Scouting is home to many walks of life, class, creed, or otherwise. It is a melting pot of differing opinions, and practices. Due to this there will always be bad actors present, despite how many barriers are erected. However, it is still a good place to be, and you'll be hard pressed to find a safer place for your kid. With every organization there will always be faults, and improvements that can be made. But without new voices, opinions, and perspectives, those faults can go unnoticed. So, if you're reading this as a former scout who left after difficulties, someone who didn't like their troop, or the like. I emplore you to try again, maybe a Venturing Crew or Sea Scout Ship is more your speed. And if you're reading this as someone who maybe wants to try Scouting or sign up your kid, please do. See if they like it, if they dont then ask them why so Scouting can improve.
You would think with all the money you charge for the events at the park, you would at least clean the showers and restrooms!! They were disgusting!! You have family and kids staying there!! Y'all are all about safety!! Please clean the restrooms that families and kids use!!!
Many salespeople standing by to get your kid into some expensive scouting clothes.
Despite whatever BSA challenges may be talked about, local Scouting and the staff and volunteers at the Alamo Area Council care about supporting youth leaders grounded in the values found in the Scout Oath and Law and outdoor adventure.
