Last night, she suggested that we attend the dress rehearsal for The Miracle Worker. Excellent and powerful are not adequate to describe the performance that I witnessed last night. The direction and acting were outstanding. I do not have an adequate vocabulary to describe the powerful performances of the two young ladies who played Ann Sullivan and Helen Keller. They both showcased the raw emotions, frustrations and impossible struggles that must have been felt by the actual ladies of this story. Additionally, the entire cast and director displayed the heart-wrenching desperation that most families feel when faced with raising a special-needs child. This little volunteer theater has produced some excellent performances and I highly recommend The Miracle Worker which opens tomorrow evening and runs for three weeks.
