Powered by GoogleWhat a great course! Gene is a really good teacher who makes all participants feel comfortable and feel like they’re in the right place. Gene teaches by explaining, then demonstrating and finally having the class do simple drills that develop the particular skill being taught. I’m 68, and an experienced intermediate MTB rider, but primarily a gravel rider/racer. I learned a TON at this course and I have applied everything I learned to my gravel riding as well as my MTB riding. The skills I learned were very simple to understand and the drills are not difficult. However, executing them on the trail is not easy - they require practice. But the practice is easy and fun. I’m already a much better rider and plan to keep improving through practice. I highly recommend Gene’s course!!
Gene is an excellent teacher. He has been coaching for over 20 years and is passionate about all aspects of mountain biking, the physical and mental. He knows how to break down skills into teachable blocks that are understandable. And he is funny, I learned so much from Gene.
Gene's BetterRide clinic reinforces correct riding habits and instructs you on how to fix the bad ones in a very positive manner. He takes his time and is very patient with his instructions. Having Cody Kelly one of Gene's former students there to demonstrate with his effortless riding skills was a definite bonus. This class has been very helpful with my training and I cannot wait to see how it helps me in my upcoming race season. I very much enjoyed the clinic and highly recommend BetterRide.
As a 51 yo woman, I've been mountain biking infrequently most of my life and been winging it on the trails. My boyfriend, a daily mtn biker and I decided to do a class together focused on foundational skills as watching YouTube videos were not making a difference (no matter how many times I watched "how to" vids). Well, we just completed a 3-day course with Gene and we both were very happy with the experience and raved to each other each evening what we learned. I cannot wait to work on the skills we learned and apply them! Gene is an amazing, charismatic, humble teacher and shares his extensive knowledge in a manner that is thoughtful, informative and memorable. Mind you, I was the only woman (and the least experienced) in this class of 4 seasoned riders and I was at ease with the pace and constructive feedback given. Our first day we rode after the lesson on a trail that I would have taken forever to ride downhill. I was able to do what Gene taught and was amazed as I rode at a speed I did not think possible for me on a unfamiliar trail. My confidence in riding has leveled up tremendously as Gene instills all the knowledge needed to conquer the majority of the mountain biking terrain. To get the most out of the course, come with SPONGE attitude. Listen patiently...Gene really knows how to teach and will show you how to do it and critique your skill in a positive, helpful way. I got so much out of the course and my boyfriend did as well. There is so much to concentrate on and Gene breaks it down to make it fluid and successful. We are already looking for an opportunity to attend his course in Moab!
Gene was an amazing instructor! He taught us high level mountain bike skills progressively, which made the skills accessible to all ages, strengths and levels of abilities. His instruction was more than acquiring skills, but also taught us better ways to approach our own learning curves. My husband and I left with added confidence and inspiration to tryout our new skills and mindset throughout our lives upon our return home. Our limiting beliefs about our abilities and aging were appropriately challenged and we are excited for many more years of mountain biking and traveling to cool destinations with our bikes and new skills. Thanks Gene, you changed our lives! You're the best!
