Powered by GoogleThis company is AMAZING. My daughter has attended 4 of their summer programs, including river rafting trips. She's 14-years-old now. I'm blown away by quality of experiences she has received, all the way back to when she was 10 years old. The people with Canyonlands Field Institute make each day fun, interesting, and educational. My daughter spends days afterward telling me about each trip, including the bonds that she forms with both the other campers and the counselors. My daughter is also not exactly the outdoorsy type, so I know this company must be doing something right to get her to see past the absence of all of her creature comforts. She hardly even mentions it, and the time outdoors in open spaces while working closely with others is PRICELESS for her childhood experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Thank you, Canyonlands!
CFI is an exceptional organization that we have partnered with for over 20 years. Every April, we bring high school students for a week of outdoor education, and the experience is consistently outstanding. The staff is professional, well-organized, and deeply knowledgeable. I recommend them without hesitation for any school or group looking for transformative outdoor education.
I cannot sing enough praises for the institute. I went with the institute on a 5 day canoeing trip through my university. The staff was absolutely incredible. There was a lot of curveballs sent our way, but our river guides were amazing at communicating plans and rolling with what was given. Throughout the whole trip they were incredibly positive and an absolute joy to be around. The guides taught us games on the river to pass time while paddling and night we had lovely star talks. As a star enthusiast I loved how they went into detail about the constellation stories from other cultures. We made some side stops and had some really engaging conversations about leave no trace and environmental impacts. They were incredibly knowledgeable and were able to answer a majority of our questions with insight. I could not sing enough praises about the river guides. When it came to food, I was prepared to have some alright meals. However the food exceeded my expectations. All of the food was fantastic, and I still crave the broccoli salad. Even though I don’t have any dietary restrictions, they were easily able to accommodate those in my group that did have dietary restrictions. Overall, the trip was an incredible experience and I would highly recommend CFI.
Our 4-day 3-night 42 mile trip down the Colorado River through Ruby Horsethief canyons with the last day hitting the rapids in Westwater Canyon was our best vacation ever!! Brennon, Alex, Nick and Samara were outstanding guides for the 9 of us on our trip. Our children had never camped before or used a groover and can't wait to go camping and rafting again. The education, entertainment and food were top notch.
We just got back from a four day rafting trip along the Upper San Juan. It was extraordinary, thanks to CFI. We were a party of 10; four adults and six kids ranging in age from 8-15 years old. CFI was extremely organized and send us excellent packing lists and tips beforehand. We had three remarkable guides; each one extremely knowledgeable about the geology and history of the San Juan. Thank you Alex, Nick and Amir!!! You guys were such a delight to be around; really funny and clever, but also laser focused on safety especially w the kids. A great combination. Oh and the riverside meals you prepared three times a day were a testament to your culinary expertise. As for the scenery and environment we encountered along the way; it was breathtaking and soul stirring. I can not recommend CFI enough; give yourself and your family a tremendous gift and go on one of their guided itineraries. We are excited to book another one in 2021!
