The Bechtel Family Center for Ocean Education and Leadership is a four-story, 25,000-square-foot education building on Cannery Row, opened in 2019 as part of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It houses the aquarium's free education programs - learning labs with live animal displays, collaborative classrooms for visiting school groups, and teen programs such as WATCH, in which participants conduct field research and present findings. It is an aquarium facility and teen-program hub rather than a stand-alone children's summer camp; the aquarium's youth offerings are booked through its education department.

There were a wide variety of activities, and the staff were very supportive, inviting, and excited to provide us with the hands-on, fun activities. I especially enjoyed the various ways that participants could demonstrate their knowledge and apply it to real life. The arts, crafts, sewing, and meeting other teachers was an added bonus!
