Powered by Google9 years ago I had no idea when we signed up my 3rd grade daughter to play basketball for her school team what that was going to do for us. She was just going to play basketball for her STM school team. That turned into playing for school, continuing on through the spring to keep her momentum and on through the summer so she could be the best player she could be. We loved the program so much, we signed up my son when he was in 2nd grade (he is still playing going into 10th grade). He was the only 2nd grader so he got to “play up” with the older boys and boy did he learn a lot. Baton Rouge Mongoose made such a difference in both of my kids. Coach Beau could see the talent that they both had and worked with them until they both could see and use the skills they had. One of the great things about this system is that everyone gets to play. No one sits on the bench and watches the others play. He makes sure to put each player in a position that is best suited for them. My son is a natural athlete and from the beginning it was clear, and he was put in the point guard position. My daughter was not put in the same position initially. She had more work to do. But, he did not give up on her and she worked on her skills and was able to play at the point guard level too! They learned a lot about basketball for sure, but there were life lessons thrown in the mix too. They will be able to carry what they learned here with them always. I am a big fan of this program.
Joining the Baton Rouge Mongoose Club allows players to obtain their own individual character by participating in routine drills, learning rapid plays, creating strategic teamwork, and implementing intense competition during game tournaments. The Mongoose Club is more than a club, it’s a cultural phenomenon that fosters both physical and mental growth. From the rhythmic dribbling and soaring jumps to the strategic passing and calculated shots, basketball challenges the players and the team as a whole.
Great group of coaches and organizers, who teach the fundamentals of basketball, how to gain confidence under pressure, and how to play as a team. The kids learn important life skills in the process of learning the X's & O's of the sport. Our oldest plays for Mongoose and our youngest will begin as soon as he's of age.
Beau and the Mongoose team were amazing mentors and coaches. My son played with them for several years. This provided him so much guidance and affect on who he is today! I recommend this program for any child wanting to learn basketball, have fun, and learn about themselves c especially as a person.
All three of my girls have played in the Baton Rouge Mongoose basketball league. It is a wonderful program! They learned so much from fundamentals to agility to learning different plays and adapting to different scenarios while on the court. My girls gained so much from playing in this league but the most important thing for me was their confidence in playing basketball.
