Full payment is required up front. My first red flag was that Russ would text shortly before every practice to let me know practice was still on. Isn't it standard that when you pay and are told practices are "X" day at "Y" time that you just show up and the practice will happen? Russ apparently lost access to the facility and just kept canceling for over a month. Before this, there was more than one occasion where a coach just didn't show up. When he finally found a new facility, practices were cut from twice a week to once a week and are an extra 20 minute drive away. I chose this program over another so I wouldn't have to drive that far. He never reached out to confirm refunds, etc. Upon me asking, I was offered credit which I incorrectly assumed would be a refund. Credits in the form of future practices would keep us with him an extra three months which I specifically didn't sign up for. I signed up due to the ending timeline coinciding with our next activity's beginning. Coaching style is very negative when he's actually there. Wish I would have looked at reviews before paying for this "program".

If I can give them no stars, I would it’s pretty disheartening knowing that you was trusting in someone to be honest with you from start however, Coach Russ has been nothing more then unprofessional and very hard to get a hold of I originally paid $350 for my son to play on their team And the day after I paid. I decided that basket Academy would not be a good fit for my child. I reached out to Coach Russ and asked for a refund. He told me he do not give refunds although I had just paid the $350 the day before he went back-and-forth with me very rudely very argumentative about the refund so then I asked for the refund for the uniform and he told me he has already purchased the uniform so I say OK fair enough well, please let me know when the uniforms are in. He told me it will take 3 to 4 weeks before my son will receive his uniform. It has been over a month and I have not heard anything about a uniform I have reached out to Coach Russ countless times via text and calls and he has literally ghost me so now I’m out of $350 as a single mom of three with health issues. I don’t see what type of organization operate like that but I will say if you are thinking about getting your child enrolled in the AAU team run from this one. They are taking people money and I don’t even understand how they are still able to operate UPDATE::::: since they want to comment on here and obviously lie to make their program look like it’s good and that their honest when we all know based off the reviews, they are very much liars which is sad because the try outs was at a church you would think that folks will be a little more honest, especially doing business at God‘s house, but I guess you can’t expect everybody to be honest and genuine. They don’t have videos of my child because my son only went to the tryouts and one practice. Furthermore, they did charge me for uniforms for my child in which he has never received. They told me $350 $100 was for the uniforms and $250 was for the month of April in which my son did not participate in so they most certainly don’t have my child on video doing anything let alone do they have my child Practicing as most of the parents are the ones teaching the kids not any coaches and I was told that the second time we tried to come to practice in which there was no one there, but one parent, and she stated that she was pulling her child from the program due to the lack of communication and how unprofessional the program is Below, I attach proof of the whole conversation that I had with coach lying Russ

I am usually very fair with my reviews. but this one even deserves less than one star. I got an email with a digital flyer about spring development program 2024 for early bird registration for$195. I clicked on it and it took me to a page that only had a link to a past fall program and couldn't see that promoted link on the web thought it was glitch I went a ahead and signed up to take advantage for the discounted price. I was charged the non discounted price then I realized the link was wrong and it was a different page on the website. I reached out the coach Russ about the issue and he moved my son to the correct program. I told coach Russ would I get refund of$30 since i signed up within the time frame of the promotion and he said we can only refund once the program starts. the program started and didn't get the refund. emailed, texted and phone called him many times to remind him about the refund and he said he didn't get the chance but he will. the season finished and I never got my refund. $ 30 is not going to change my life but it is a matter of principle and this is not a way to conduct a business. FYI coach Russ doesn't coach the development program. The coach that taught the development program is amazing passionate and I wanted to be fair with that coach and not the owner.

Beware! If you register your child for AAU, they will give pretty much EVERYONE an “opportunity” to be part of it, but mid-season, there’s a chance that they will move your child to developmental basketball. They should be honest from the beginning and let the children know if they made the team or not, and encourage developmental basketball from the start, not try to get everyone’s money and then out of nowhere move your child. I wish i hadn’t payed full amount (non-refundable) plus uniform cost, but we would be looking for another team. In addition, they communicate practice and tournament dates/times last minute (a night before). Also, I know I’m not the only frustrated parent.
