I played for Like Mike thinking it was going to be a great opportunity to grow as a basketball player, but it ended up being a really frustrating and disappointing experience for me and my family. My mom paid a lot of money for me to be part of the program over a year ago, trusting that everything they promised—like proper coaching, gear, and real competition—would actually happen, but we never even got a full refund after things clearly weren’t right. On top of that, I never received the jersey or backpack that were supposed to come with joining, which just made it feel like we were taken advantage of. What made it worse was how unorganized everything was; they had 5th graders going up against high schoolers on an AAU team, which isn’t fair or safe and doesn’t help anyone develop the right way. There were also barely any real tournaments, even though that’s one of the main reasons players join AAU in the first place. And when we did have games, I wasn’t even given a fair chance to play, which made it feel like all the time, money, and effort I put in didn’t matter. Overall, it just felt like a broken promise, and it’s frustrating knowing my mom worked hard to pay for something that didn’t deliver what was advertised.
