The Y is a great place to get your exercise in. Clean, friendly. They have trainers that can get you started and show you how to properly use the equipment. They have an outdoor pool, all kinds of classes, pickleball etc. I haven’t even scratched the surface of what they offer.

I have been a member of the Barco-Newton YMCA for 20 years. It used to be an enjoyable place to work out, and meet new people. It was adequately staffed, and offered an array of interesting programs. Every year, my wife and I would contribute to its annual fund raising campaign. We also donated many items of equipment for Y use in its programs over the years. Sadly, the Barco-Newton Y has been going downhill for several years. The gym used to be clean and well maintained. Now, some of the machines, such as the elliptical and treadmill,, are frequently inoperable and dirty. Oftentimes, there are no "Out of Service" signs on the inoperable machines, which would alert members. There used to be a regular cleaning service during the day, but have not seen them in years. Oftentimes, the sanitary paper wipes bucket is empty, so members have no way to wipe down the machines after use. It appears the Y is operating with a minimal skeleton staff compared to previous years. It is difficult to write this, as this Y has been a part of my life for 20 years. The deficiencies that exist could be addressed, and solved, with a hands -on team with creative ideas. Until that occurs, this Y will continue to be nothing more than a 3rd rate gym.

We have been going to this place for many years for my children sports. I have enjoyed many times the staff and what they offer. They have many children’s sports available including soccer basketball,flag football. The swim classes were very helpful and patient during the summer. Inside they have a nice workout facility and is clean and always ready for you. The summer camps are great as well as other children activities they offer including some daycare.
